Summer is almost here and with it comes tons of fun holidays and reasons to host a party. For some, the season gives us a green light to go full steam ahead with plans for backyard soirees and rooftop cocktail parties. For others, the idea of hosting anything sounds stressful and intimidating. No matter which category you fall into we have tips to get you ready for entertaining in a stress-free and fun way.

Plan ahead. Tackling your to-do list over a week or so, instead of trying to do it all the night before, will help keep you from feeling overwhelmed.

Create an amazing playlist. Go with upbeat, happy tunes and try to avoid loud music, which makes it difficult for people to talk.

Prepare bites and drinks ahead. Make as much of your food and specialty drinks in advance as possible. Our Summer Spicy Grapefruit Margarita is tasty and easy to prep the night before.

Take a break before your party begins. Make sure that everything is done an hour and a half before your first guest arrives. That gives you a full hour to get ready and half an hour to sit down alone, be calm, have that first glass of wine and breathe.

Spicy Grapefruit Margarita

Cinco De Mayo is next week! What’s more fitting than margaritas for a spring fiesta? When searching for the perfect margarita, we had to turn to our favorite spot in Baltimore, the Four Season’s Wit & Wisdom. The mixologist shared their recipe for a Spicy Grapefruit Margarita. We think this recipe is the perfect, easy-to-make cocktail that is sure to wow your guests for the May 5th holiday or any other celebration this summer.

Ingredients:

1½ oz. Agavero Tequila

¾ oz. Fresno pepper syrup

¾ oz. Lime juice

½ oz. Grapefruit juice

Dash of salt

Instructions:

Mix the tequila, lime juice, Fresno pepper syrup and grapefruit juice.

Serve over ice, and garnish with a grapefruit slice.

Another bridal week just wrapped, which means we get to revel in the latest wedding dress trends to emerge from the runways. For Spring 2017, our favorite bridal designers went beyond our expectations, breaking through the conventional bridal mold and delivering new styles that classic and modern brides alike will adore.

Many of the new details focused on creating layers and adding dimension to the gowns. We saw beautiful draping with controlled volume, whether taking floral appliqués and making the blooms pop as three-dimensional embellishments or creating a full-bodied overly.

“Vintage” was a word that a lot of designers used to credit their collection, and it was pretty apparent with the array of Old Hollywood Glamour and 19th Century French looks. Even the few pantsuits that walked the runway had an “old world” feel to them.

Another majorly important feature was lace. As an iconic staple in bridal design, lace hardly offers a surprise to the world of wedding dresses. Somehow, it was invigorating to see this feminine fabric on recent bridal runways, with a fresh (sometimes sleek, at times rustic) perspective on how appliqués, trims, and overlays take shape around the body.

With Baltimore Bride naming us one of “THE best wedding planners” we had to pull out all the stops for the magazine’s Aisle Style event this March. Entrance into our opulent vignette, at the Four Seasons, was flanked with silk drapes adorned with elegant blooms of roses and orchids.

Inspired by Pantone’s 2016 Color of the Year, Rose Quartz, we chose discreet hydrangeas, white, ivory and soft pink roses for our lush table arrangement. Phalaenopsis orchids cascaded down the table for an elegant break in symmetry.

Antique mercury glass votives in staggering heights added dimension to our rich tablescape, and laser cut calligraphy—“My Life” and “My Love”—gave a modern detail atop each place setting.

Wishing Sherri + Chris a Happy 1st Anniversary! Remember to love, communicate, forgive and most importantly…have fun on this journey you began as Mr. + Mrs. on May 25, 2014! Ivori Nicole Events was honored to be a part of your day!

For a wedding that was about family, fun and lots of bling, Hard Rock Cancun (Mexico) was the party perfect location. A color scheme of neutrals, blush, ivory and hints of coral set the stage for a sunset beach ceremony, followed by poolside cocktails and an indoor reception. The perfect end to a perfect day was during the reception, where guests spoke of their love for the couple, and wished them many years of happiness.

The Ivori Nicole Events team was right there from venue selection to wedding reception. INE researched venues in Mexico to find the one that would be just right; helped to select wedding décor; recommended a full service travel agent; aided the bride in gown selection; assisted with distributing travel information to guests; liaised with the resort’s coordinator and attended the site tour upon arrival at the resort; created the event itinerary; and directed the wedding rehearsal and reception—all to ensure the couple never had to stop enjoying themselves to worry about the details of their day.

Wishing Larissa + Andre a Happy 1st Anniversary! Remember to love, communicate, forgive and most importantly…have fun on this journey you began as Mr. + Mrs. on May 17, 2014! Ivori Nicole Events was honored to be a part of your day!

Hosted in Jamaica where the bride’s grandmother lives, this was a wedding that was all about family. Special touches included the couple honoring the bride’s late mother by placing a single rose on the chair where she would have sat, and a display of vintage and modern photos depicting the love of family members who, though not physically present, were in attendance in spirit. As the ceremony was about to begin, the island sky turned dark threatening rain, but it quickly cleared up, leaving behind a sunny haze that was the perfect backdrop to this turquoise and coral colored wedding.

Ivori Nicole Events acted as the bride’s distance liaison to the resort’s on-site coordinator in finalizing the wedding details; negotiated contracts with the resort and floral designer; attended the site tour upon arrival at the resort; created the event itinerary; and directed the wedding rehearsal, ceremony and reception—all to ensure a dream wedding for this beautiful couple.

INE-CupcakesandBubbly

Not very long ago I had a vision for a business, a brand and a design studio that would be modern, and fresh and embrace femininity; a place that would be ripe with personality and just feel like “me”. I wanted to create the type of company that would attract couples looking for a companion in infusing inspired details, with traditional etiquette to produce magnificent fêtes that would feel uniquely like “them”. I believe that adding personality into the work I do makes it that much more meaningful.

So I planned, and I worked, and on Sunday, April 26th, I got to see all that hard work come to fruition, as employees, vendors, family and friends milled about the Ivori Nicole Events Design Studio nibbling saccharine treats and drinking celebratory champagne at our Open House event, Cupcakes & Bubbly. Cupcakes & Bubbly was an opportunity for all to tour the studio, meet the Ivori Nicole Events team and view the debut of the newest Ivori Nicole Events Brand Film, New Beginnings! It didn’t hurt that there was a bevy of sugary sweet macaroons, branded cookies, glittery iced donuts, and lots of pink bubbly to go around.

Cupcakes & Bubbly was the culmination of an extensive rebrand, and an opportunity to showcase not only the working studio where I’ll meet with both my team and my clients, but to extend a welcome to my fellow industry entrepreneurs as well. Teaming with knowledgeable and creative vendors helps me to create an even better experience for my clients, so I always look forward to partnering.

In mentioning partnering, I have to express thanks and kudos to all the fabulous vendors who helped to make Cupcakes & Bubbly a sparkling success! They provided their products or services, attended the event–or both!

In tandem with the Ivori Nicole Events rebranding efforts, Ivori conceptualized a photo shoot that would be the visual representation of her signature style, Vintage Country Chic. Working with local vendors including a photographer, videographer, floral designer and stylist, the team captured a series of chic vignettes on film: a beautifully unique circular ceremony design featuring rose petals in a custom ombré design; a lounge area featuring a chaise lounge with branded INE pillows; guest and head table creations with lush floral runners, alternating farm chairs, elegant stem wear and place settings and lovely floral centerpieces; and a cake table, complete with bride and groom silver wear and a resplendent INE cake topper.  An INE branded color palette of blush, ivory and gold tied all of the pieces together.
