Diabetes is a national health crisis. It is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the US, affecting women, men, and youth populations. Diabetes affects more than 600,000 people in Maryland and nearly 1.6 million people are living with prediabetes.

Although physical activity is a key element in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes, many with this chronic disease do not become or remain regularly active. High-quality studies established that participation in regular physical activity improves blood glucose control and can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Yet, studies show as few as 37 percent of people with Type 2 diabetes participate in regular physical activity.

Hello loves,

So the wedding is over, the vows have been said, the cake is all gone, and your luggage is unpacked from your honeymoon. Before you go back to the ins and outs of everyday life, it’s important to know how to care for that gorgeous set of rings you’ll wear every day. These seven simple tips will help you keep your engagement ring as safe, sound and sparkly as possible.

Purchase insurance or add your ring to your property policy. Insurance is necessary to protect your investment if it gets lost, stolen or damaged.

Always handle diamonds rings by their metal band and avoid touching the gemstones. Fingers are covered in oils that can dull their sparkle.

Remove rings before applying lotions and creams. They will lose their brilliance and need professional cleanings more often.

Avoid wearing your rings while cleaning around the house. Harsh cleaning supplies have chemicals that could permanently damage your ring.

Drains are a ring’s greatest enemy. Never remove your rings before you wash your hands in a public restroom or place your rings on or near a sink.

Never wear your rings in the ocean. Cold water can shrink fingers. Your rings could slip off without your knowledge.

Have your rings inspected and cleaned by a professional jeweler every year.

We are so excited to see our Urban Chic Style Shoot on MunaLuchi Bride!

Everyone’s definition of a romantic setting varies slightly, but it is hard to argue with a gorgeous artistic loft setting like the one at Baltimore’s own Graffiti Warehouse!

We created a romantic loft wedding featuring a color palette of gold and ivory, with unexpected pops of red. The team chose a mix of rich red china and gold lattice chargers as the perfect balance against the ivory and gold tones in the soft linens and ghost chairs. Playing off the crimson hue found in the table setting, a highlight to the tablescape design was the tiny whimsical crab that adorned the menu at each place setting.

As if details like the brick walls and permanent graffiti art were not enough, the team really embodied “Urban Chic” for this styled loft wedding with a three-tiered cake adorned with feathers and rhinestone embellishments.

The bride wore a beaded Allure wedding gown crowned with an illusion top and understated accessories. The last piece to the puzzle, tying the loft wedding together, was the bold red tuxedo worn by the groom that were equal parts fresh and modern.

The beauty of a loft wedding is how the space can transform into just about anything you dream up. Easily one of the most versatile venues, it is no wonder that these urban wedding spaces are such a prize!

Hi loves,

It’s officially fall! The leaves are falling, colors are changing, Starbucks has rolled out the #PSL (that’s Pumpkin Spice Latte for us non-coffee drinkers). Some of the best things in life are happening including lots of beautiful autumn weddings. Whether you are planning a fall wedding for this year or next, we have a few key tips that you should surely heed!

Keep warm: Some days this season Mother Nature will send some warm weather our way, but chances are slim so prepare for cooler temps. Warn your guests about the event location so they can dress appropriately. For outdoor nuptials consider big cozy blankets for your guests or heaters.

Coffee or hot cocoa, anyone? Serving warm beverages is another way to keep everybody warm. Have fun with it and provide different flavors. You can even offer adult versions with alcohol. Bailey’s Irish Cream and hot cocoa would be amazing on a chilly day!

Consider a nature-inspired color palette. The best thing about fall is all of the amazing hues. There are so many great colors to consider besides the obvious browns and orange tones. We love the ideas of infusing blush, taupe- like lavender, or cranberry into these seasonal color palette. Blend any of these tones into your bridesmaid’s dresses, linens, or florals. The possibilities are endless.

Don’t forget the delicious fall foods. Wedding menus shouldn’t be left out of this fall love fest. Work with your caterer to incorporate ingredients like pumpkin, sweet potatoes, squash, cranberries and apples. Don’t forget the autumn desserts like hot apple pie. Yum!

Happy Wednesday loves! Weddings are known as “the bride’s day,” but what about the groom? A wedding is a celebration of you both as a couple, after all! So how do you make sure your groom is represented on the Big Day…and get him involved with some of the planning action? Keep reading…

Weigh in on some decisions. Getting his opinion is an excellent way to help you when you’re stuck on which napkin color to order, and it helps him feel like he’s a part of the nuptials, too. If he doesn’t want to be looped in on every minor decision narrow down your choices before bringing you hubby-to-be in for the final weigh in.

Choose the menu. Does he have a favorite protein or side dish? Invite him into conversations with your caterer to ensure he’s represented in the menu choices. After all, they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Besides, you will have so much fun at tastings together.

Select a signature drink. Work with your fiancé to create a cocktail that suits both of your taste buds. Ask your bartender to help you mix and match your favorite liquors and mixers until you blend the perfect drink or two.

Register Together. Whether you’re going with a traditional registry or a honeymoon fund, get your groom involved. Keep in mind that he will be using the towels or enjoying the couple’s spa treatment, too!

In general, ask his opinion and be truly open to using his ideas. Be sure to involve him in some way with the planning process. The memories of you planning together will last a lifetime, and you’re going to appreciate all the help you can get!

Hello loves,

Summer is in full swing, and so are summer weddings. Sunny days, warm nights, minimal chance of rain, and pretty photo ops lend to the season’s popularity for I do’s. On the flip side, high temperatures and beaming rays can make outdoor ceremonies miserable for your wedding guests.

When it comes to your Big Day, I am a firm believer that you should have your wedding cake and eat it, too. Here are a few tips on how to have your dream outdoor nuptials, and beat the heat.

Create an oasis. Set up water stations at the ceremony. Go the extra mile with fancy glassware and infused water. You may need to increase your rental order, but your guests will appreciate the effort to make them comfortable.

Fans your family and friends. Provide fans that double as programs. Nothing beats the heats like a fan on a hot summer day. Contact your designer to create a fan that will continue your stationery story from your invitation design. Make sure the paper you choose has the weight to create a small breeze.

Throw them some shade. Give out sunglasses to your guests. Depending on the direction of the sun, the glare could hit your guests right in the eye and hinder them from witnessing your vows. Also, the sunglasses can double as your favor. Don’t forget to personalize them with your names and wedding date.

Pass out the pops. Boozy popsicles for your cocktail hour on the lawn is the perfect refresher after your ceremony in the sun. Serve up the refreshments without the liquor for children and non-drinkers.
