2017 Wedding Trends Forecasted by Ivori Nicole Events

Ivori Nicole Events, based outside of Baltimore, is a full-service wedding planning and production firm. Ivori Lipscomb-Warren, owner and creative director at this award-winning firm is spotting some new trends in 2017, based on the weddings she and her team are orchestrating.

Weddings are more customized than ever, with couples putting their own unique spin on classic traditions,” says Ivori Lipscomb-Warren, Owner, and Creative Director. “Couples are taking the guests experience up a notch by bringing in social media photo booths, and upgrading dining to include late night food stations, and swapping the traditional wedding cake for a classic favorite like gourmet donuts.”

Ivori Nicole Events Wedding Trend Report for 2017

Lace

The romantic, elegant look of lace has become essential to wedding décor in 2017. Larger, vintage patterns are used in more modern ways. Whether the themes are heading toward a rustic or glamorous path, it is easy to make lace work in the wedding space. A little detail like this can make a big impact.

Ballet Inspired Palettes

Variants of muted peaches, honey tones, champagnes, blushes, and creams are hauntingly beautiful, and very understated. Yet, they are being breathed back to life this year. Brides and grooms are adopting the hue into their classic palettes, that just can’t be beaten for their special occasion.

Rose Gold

And, in comes rose for the gold! This fun, authentic shade has most recently taken over our daily accessories. In 2017 rose gold is having a very special moment by being curated into sophisticated color schemes. It’s definitely a shade that is worth adding to a posh celebration.

Velvet

Velvet has been quite the underappreciated texture in the past, but this time around splashes of the fabric is what is making your wedding stand out in the best way. From ribbons to table linen, dashes of velvet will be a huge hit in 2017.

Natural Elements

Infusing nature into one of the biggest days of one’s life is coming into full swing this year, mainly thanks to the support of Pantone’s announcement of their Color of the Year, ‘Greenery.’ With the help of components such as marble, geode, petrified wood, and succulents to express organic treasures, this craze is sure to hit us in 2017 with fury.

High-Tech

You must admit, life sure can be simpler thanks to some of the latest and greatest emerging products in the tech industry. How many headaches could be prevented by having a charging station in the venue? Digital mapping, social media photo booths, and even drone photography have found their way into weddings through necessity.

Mixing of Textures

Texture play is not a game for the faint of heart. Our eyes are instantly drawn to the best of the extremes when mixing up your textures in a wedding. Satin, velvet, sequin and more will be incorporated into the same themes thanks to a tight color scheme and complimentary elements.

Oversized Florals

This year when it comes to the flowers at your wedding, bigger is always better. There’s no such thing as too many flowers at your wedding as long as they are carefully landscaped to the architecture. Bouquets this year are fuller, and arrangements are larger and more thought out.

Interactive Late Night Food Stations

When your reception starts to seep into the evening hours, hunger can sure ensue on you and your guests. Beautiful and sensible late night snacks are not just considered but seen as a big focus in the planning. Creating a social scene that melds in perfectly with food here-and-there will be essential to setting the evening’s mood.

Minus the Cake, Add the Desserts

A surprising rise of brides and grooms have been opting out of having a cake and going for a sophisticated feast of desserts instead. It’s not just about cupcakes, but instead, selections have evolved to new heights of candy bars, beer stands, cookies trays, donut walls, and more. Unique foods have proven to be a major focal point in weddings—especially in the sweets area.

Ivori on the go

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of all things wedding related. I’ve travelled to four states for a variety of activities: a destination wedding venue visit, an exclusive new venue preview, a bridesmaids brunch, and the National Stationery Show. Read on to get wedding inspiration from the new trends in stationery and learn about two breathtaking venues.

Melady Plantation House, Alexandria, LA

Built in 1870, the Melady Plantation House is a gem in the heart of Alexandria, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans. The beautiful 4,000-square-foot home was renovated in 2008 and sits on 4 acres of land filled with majestic oak trees. The home holds 280 guests for indoor receptions.

Last week, we had the pleasure of touring this opulent facility with clients who will marry here this summer. Making this wedding our first destination wedding of the season. We are so thrilled to work with this space and can’t wait to design this gorgeous canvas.

Melady Plantation House

Observatory at America’s Square, Washington, D.C.

In June 2015, Jamestown LP debuted its new rooftop event space, the Observatory at America’s Square. The 1,758-square-foot rooftop offers prime views of the U.S. Capitol building and the D.C. skyline. The space holds 240 guests for receptions or seats 120 guests.

We were excited to attend Bridal Bellhop’s spring wedding preview at the Observatory. The event was a faux wedding and cocktail reception. Yet, there was nothing faux about the amazing bites from Heirloom Catering or the exquisite spring floral arrangements from Uncloudy Studio.

Winnie’s LeBus, Philadelphia, PA

An original landmark in Philly’s Manayunk neighborhood, Winnie’s offers freshly made, preservative free meals and catering. Set in a refurbished mill, the bar and restaurant are infamous for their brunch menu. Huevos Rancheros and chocolate chip pancakes are a few of the items you can get at Winnie’s

The brick walls housing local art made the perfect backdrop for our bride’s brunch. Yes, she invited me! And, treated me to a box of spa goodies to take home. I just love our Ivori Nicole Events brides!

National Stationery Show, New York City

For 70 years, the National Stationery Show has been the place for all things paper – from greeting cards, custom invitations, gift wrap and journals, to lifestyle gifts – and everything in between. The show is held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Midtown Manhattan and attracts over 10,000 buyers and industry professionals from all over the world. An event planner’s dream!

Some of my favorite designers did not disappoint with their 2017 collections. We saw exciting new items from Sugar Paper, Soho Paper and Claire Magnolia.  I cannot wait for these cool lines hit the market.

While in the Big Apple, I had a few must-see stops for the day trip. First on my list was Venus Et Fleur. The bespoke rose atelier specializes in lush, customizable precision arrangements, but the draw for me was Eternity DE Venus – which are everlasting roses that maintain freshness for over a year.

Before ending the day, we stopped at Black Tap Craft Burgers and Beer in NYC’s Meatpacking District for their infamous burger and over-the-top milkshakes. The food and shakes were amazing, but the music took the experience to another level. We sipped on our shakes to the old school hip-hop beats of Erik B and Rakim, Rob Base, NWA and EMPD. What a treat?

INEBridalShow-23

With Baltimore Bride naming us one of “THE best wedding planners” we had to pull out all the stops for the magazine’s Aisle Style event this March. Entrance into our opulent vignette, at the Four Seasons, was flanked with silk drapes adorned with elegant blooms of roses and orchids.

Inspired by Pantone’s 2016 Color of the Year, Rose Quartz, we chose discreet hydrangeas, white, ivory and soft pink roses for our lush table arrangement. Phalaenopsis orchids cascaded down the table for an elegant break in symmetry.

Antique mercury glass votives in staggering heights added dimension to our rich tablescape, and laser cut calligraphy—“My Life” and “My Love”—gave a modern detail atop each place setting.

Dates are available for the 2016 wedding season! Call 410-793-7024 to schedule your wedding consultation today.
